    • @DIYVideoStudio

      You can use one or botyh XLR inputs, that's up to you. Put the recorder into multifile mode and you'll get a stereo file from the X/Y mics and a mono file from your one XLR input (you may also get a blank second mono file for the unused input, but that depends). Good luck.

      This set up displays your camera's screen on your phone and I have used it to give me a larger display when shooting landscape images (helpful to compose and focus). Don't, however, save the images by taking a snapshot on your phone. Save the images to your camera's SD card as usual, since the resolution will be much higher.

      @@DIYVideoStudio I typically film at 4K. But adjusting the camera setting to 1080p, then this system works. Do you know if the USB Camera PRO supports 4K filming? Thanks.

    • @DIYVideoStudio

      @@fafaegregory The video capture cards I used in the video will take a 4K video input but then output 1080p video. That works with the Pro app (only displays/records up to 1080p). But when trying the Elgato 4K capture card (that outputs 4K video), the Pro app often displays a blank screen but when it does work it again displays/records at 1080p. I've used both the Canon EOS R and R6 with 4K output connected the way I show in the video and the video shows up on the Pro app, but as mentioned, the video is 1080p by the time it gets to the phone. Obviously there's something different happening with your Panasonic, but I hope you can get it to work to your satisfaction.

    Doing this now with my R5, and it sucks that I have to go this route for such a high-end camera when the R6MKII can go direct to usb-c

    • @DIYVideoStudio
      @DIYVideoStudio 5 днів тому

      Although the R5 was released in 2020 (along with the R6), it is still a stunning camera. However, as you say, it sucks that it can't link directly to a phone via USB-C like the R6 MkII and presumably the soon to be launched R5 MkII. If I had the spare cash right now I would pre-order the R5 MkII because of the new features it offers, although a second hand R5 would also be tempting since the price is sure to drop soon.

However, the H5 uses up the AA batteries pretty fast. It would be nice to somehow use the usb port for data and power at the same time. My vintage lens can only be focused in short range and I can’t take landscapes. Is this my adapter’s Fault ?

    • @DIYVideoStudio
      @DIYVideoStudio 9 днів тому

      @kianasultan Possibly. It's usually much easier to adapt vintage lenses on to mirrorless cameras than DSLRs, but you need an adapter that gives the correct flange distance. The adapters that usually cause problems are the thin metal rings that just convert the lens to your camera's lens mount. That is the type I have for my 50mm Praktica lens and the flange distance is a little off, resulting in an inability to focus to infinity.

      Hey buddy, I just ordered this microphone too. First off, thanks for sharing your opinion with everyone. Secondly, I'm really worried about background noise. I currently have a condenser mic that picks up the sound of the air conditioner and the cars on the street. Sometimes, it even captures someone talking loudly or on the phone outside my window, the concerned voice of a mother, or the annoying cry of kids. That's why I ordered a dynamic microphone to hopefully get less noise. I'd love to hear your experience since you've been using the mic for about twelve days now. I'd also be really happy if other folks who have used this mic could share their thoughts on how well it reduces noise.

    • @DIYVideoStudio
      @DIYVideoStudio 17 днів тому

      I often play with the percentage based on my recorded audio. In some cases, I have left it at the default 90% (usually if the audio is "rough") but will normally shift it down to where the AI has made the audio sound good enough. That's often around 50-70%. It all depends on the audio you're starting with.

I also tested w/ different mics including a Blue-Yeti and my cheap $20 Logitech headset/mic and they all sound the same in the end. • @DIYVideoStudio

      @RoadVoices I agree with you. Although it's not always perfect, it's quick and does a great job that allows me to create content more quickly, irrespective of the mic I'm using. Although I'd love to own the kind of microphones I used to use at the various radio stations I've worked for, there seems to be little point in spending all that money when this service provides such a good result at little cost.

    Awesome tutorial 👍 But anyway, is there a way to fix headphone out noise on the H5?

    • @DIYVideoStudio
      @DIYVideoStudio 25 днів тому

      Thank you. If you're getting noise in the headphones it's either because of mic pre amp noise due to turning the record level up high because of using a low output microphone or there's a fault somewhere. If it's mic pre amp noise, try to borrow a high output condenser microphone to see if that stops the high noise level. If it does, you can either get a condenser mic or buy an inline pre-amp. The latter will cost about $50 and boost the mic level by about 28dB, allowing you to turn the record level done on the H5 and therefore lower the noise from the H5's mic pre amps. However, if there is a fault it could be your headphones (try using another pair), the headphone jack socket, or a fault in the H5. If it's a fault on the H5 you'll need to get it serviced. Also, make sure you're using a set of headphones with a TRS jack (two black rings on the jack) and not a TRRS jack (three black rings on the jack). I hope that helps.

      Although you can record to the phone, that's not really what I would use this setup for, since you'd be limiting yourself.
